LoveWorks Outreach ("LoveWorks," "we," "us," or "our") is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information in connection with our website, programs, and services, including our Giving Program (the Jireh Fund), the Legacy of Care Nursing Scholarship, volunteer opportunities, events, and donations.
This Policy is written to be clear and easy to understand. It does not create a contract or legal rights beyond those described here, and it does not guarantee absolute security or compliance with every law in every jurisdiction — we describe our practices honestly and update this Policy as our practices, and applicable law, evolve.
Depending on how you interact with LoveWorks, we may collect:

- Event registration information — name, contact details, and any information needed to register or participate
- Website and technical information — IP address, browser/device type, and general usage data collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies & Tracking Technologies)
- Photos, videos, and stories — only where you or a parent/guardian have provided consent (see Photos, Videos, Testimonials & Stories)
We do not knowingly collect more information than is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it is provided.
We use the information we collect to:
- Process donations and issue donor acknowledgments/receipts
- Administer the Giving Program, including reviewing and responding to assistance requests
- Administer the Legacy of Care Nursing Scholarship, including application review and selection
- Recruit, screen, and coordinate volunteers
- Register and communicate with event participants
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website
- Communicate with donors, volunteers, applicants, and community members about our programs, unless you opt out (see Donor Communications & Opt-Out Rights)
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations
- Respond to inquiries and provide requested information
Our Commitment to Donor, Volunteer, and Participant Privacy
We do not sell, rent, or trade the personal information of our donors, volunteers, program participants, or scholarship applicants. We do not share identifiable participant, applicant, or assistance-recipient information with funders, partners, or the public without appropriate notice or consent, except:
- Where required by law (such as a valid subpoena or court order)
- Where necessary to protect the safety of an individual or the public
- Where a service provider processes the information solely to help us operate (see Third-Party Service Providers)
- Where information is shared only in aggregate or de-identified form (for example, in a grant report describing the general number of families served, without names or identifying details)
We do not use family assistance or program participation data for fundraising solicitation purposes. Anonymous giving is available on our donor giving page by selecting the anonymous option before completing your gift. You may also contact us using the information in Contact Us to arrange an anonymous gift.
Family & Individual Assistance Applications (Giving Program / Jireh Fund)
We understand that requesting help involves trust. Information submitted in connection with the Giving Program is used only to evaluate and administer requests for assistance, and is handled with additional discretion:
- Access is limited to those directly involved in reviewing and administering assistance requests.
- We do not publish, share, or use identifying details about individuals or families we assist without their separate, explicit consent (for example, before using any story or testimonial — see Photos, Videos, Testimonials & Stories).
- We retain assistance-related records only as long as reasonably necessary for program administration, accounting, and legal/recordkeeping purposes.
Scholarship Applications (Legacy of Care Nursing Scholarship)
If you apply for the Legacy of Care Nursing Scholarship, we collect the information provided in your application — including your essay, educational information, and contact details — to:
- Evaluate and score applications
- Administer the selection process
- Communicate with applicants about their application status
- Maintain records for program administration and reporting
Application materials may be shared internally with those responsible for reviewing and selecting scholarship recipients, and, where applicable, with any partnering educational institution involved in disbursing scholarship funds. We do not share applicant essays or personal information publicly without the applicant's separate consent.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Allow the site to function properly (necessary cookies)
- Understand how visitors use our website, in aggregate, so we can improve it (analytics cookies)
Most browsers let you control or disable cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of our website function.
Third-Party Service Providers
Like most organizations, we rely on trusted third-party vendors to help operate LoveWorks and our website, which may include providers of:
- Donation and payment processing
- Website hosting
- Email communications
- SMS/text communications (if used)
- Analytics
- Online forms and applications
- Cloud storage
- Donor/volunteer relationship management (CRM)
- Event registration
- IT and security services
These vendors process information only as necessary to provide their services to us, and their own privacy policies may also apply to how they handle your information.
Payment information: When you make a donation, your payment details (such as card number) are entered directly with our third-party payment processor. LoveWorks does not receive or store your full payment card number — we retain only the donation record (amount, date, and limited transaction reference information) needed for receipting and accounting.
Volunteers & Background Checks
If you apply to volunteer with LoveWorks, we may collect application information, references, and, where required for the role, conduct a background check through a third-party screening provider.
- Background-check results are used only to evaluate suitability for a specific volunteer role and to support the safety of those we serve.
- Access to background-check results is limited to those responsible for volunteer screening decisions.
- We retain volunteer and background-check records for as long as reasonably necessary for safety, insurance, legal, and organizational recordkeeping purposes — we do not promise immediate deletion of these records, given these legitimate retention needs, but you may contact us with questions about a specific record.
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through our website. If a minor participates in a LoveWorks program or event, we expect that a parent or legal guardian submits any required registration information on the minor's behalf or provides consent for the minor to do so. Any photograph, video, story, or testimonial involving a minor is used only where a parent or legal guardian has provided separate, explicit consent (see Photos, Videos, Testimonials & Stories) — participation in a program alone does not constitute this consent.
Photos, Videos, Testimonials & Stories
From time to time, LoveWorks may wish to share photos, videos, testimonials, or stories from our programs and events to help others understand our mission.
- Participation in a program or event does not, by itself, mean we have your consent to use your (or your child's) photo, video, or story publicly.
- We will seek separate, explicit consent — through a media release or similar written consent — before publishing any identifiable photo, video, testimonial, or story involving a participant, family, volunteer, or minor.
- Donor recognition (such as listing a donor's name in an annual report, unless a gift is made anonymously) is treated separately from media/story consent and is addressed in Our Commitment to Donor, Volunteer, and Participant Privacy.
You may withdraw consent for future use of your story or image at any time by contacting us using the information in Contact Us, though we may not be able to remove content already distributed in print or shared by third parties.
Donor Communications & Opt-Out Rights
If you donate to LoveWorks, we may send you donation acknowledgments/receipts (required for tax purposes) and, unless you opt out, updates about our mission, programs, and giving opportunities.
- Using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or
- Contacting us directly using the information in Contact Us
Opting out of marketing communications does not affect transactional communications, such as donation receipts, which we may still be required to send for accounting and tax purposes.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. No method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including legitimate organizational, legal, tax, accounting, safety, and recordkeeping purposes. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected.
Your Privacy Choices & Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information, subject to the exceptions described in Our Commitment to Donor, Volunteer, and Participant Privacy and Volunteers & Background Checks
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Withdraw previously given consent (for example, for use of a photo or story)
To make a request, contact us using the information in Contact Us. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity before fulfilling a request — we will only ask for what is necessary to confirm you are who you say you are, and will not request unnecessary sensitive information.
In the event of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will take appropriate steps to investigate and, where required by law, notify affected individuals and/or regulators in accordance with applicable data breach notification laws (including Ohio's breach notification statute and any other applicable state law).
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, or would like to exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us:
- Email: hello@loveworksinc.org
- Mailing Address: 311 Elm Street Cincinnati, OH 45202
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will post the revised Policy on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention (for example, a notice on our homepage).
